The station is El Chorro-Caminito del Rey, at the south end of the walk. According to Wikipedia, regional services from Málaga María Zambrano were extended to El Chorro in 2023, and a few long-distance trains between Seville and Málaga also stop there. The frequency is uncertain: we could not verify the number of services, journey time or fares, so check them on renfe.com.
The official site advises planning your train around the shuttle bus to the north access. The shuttle costs 2.50 € per person and takes 15 to 20 minutes. Its timetable is not consistent across the official pages, so check it before you travel.
From Málaga the official site gives 59.1 km, a little over 50 minutes, via the A-357 and the MA-5403 through Cártama, Pizarra, Carratraca and Ardales. From Antequera it is 55 km, about 54 minutes. From Ronda it is about 60 km, about 1 hour, via the A-367 to Ardales and the MA-5403. The Seville route is not covered by the official site.
Vehicles cannot reach the start of the path. The official site lists parking at the Visitor Reception Centre (2 € per day, with a shuttle stop next to it), at the municipal car park in Ardales (2 €) and at El Chorro (price not stated). The Visitor Reception Centre does not sell tickets and recommends arriving at least an hour early.
From the Ardales car park, a lit tunnel of 1.5 km takes about 20 minutes on foot, or you can follow a 2.7 km path past El Kiosko, which the FAQ puts at about 35 minutes and another official page at about 50. Choose your car park with this in mind, and remember to arrive 30 minutes before your slot.
Some of the guided tours sold by our partner Tiqets include transport, from El Chorro to the north access or all the way from Málaga, the Costa del Sol or Seville. Check what is included on each product page.
